Friends, Evangel earn NAIA postseason softball bids

EVANGEL 1, FRIENDS 0 —KCAC regular season champion Evangel rallied for 8-1 and 1-0 championship victories over Friends to sweep the KCAC postseason title. Evangel (36-8) and Friends (34-17) will advance to NAIA postseason play.

FRIENDS 3, EVANGEL, MO. 2 — Friends squeezed out a 3-2 winners bracket final victory over KCAC regular season champion Evangel. The victory boosts Friends (34-15) and Evangel (34-8) into NAIA postseason play heading to Friday's 1:30 championship game.

Friends shut out Tabor 6-0 to advance to the championship game. 

MaKenna Mitchell singled in Vanessa Sigala in the second inning. Fallyn Marshall scored on Priscilla Mora's fifth-inning double. Carolyn Dallimore scored on Laila Spracklen's groundout for a 3-2 lead. Riley Wertz (16-5) threw a 2-hitter.

Evangel's Megan Stone scored on Danielle Cutbirth's second-inning sacrifice fly. Ellie Facklam hit a sixth-inning homer.

EVANGEL 4, SAINT MARY 3 – Karlie Romines singled home Kenna Mayfield with the game-winning run. Evangel's Cutbirth singled home Autumn Nold and Stone. Mayfield singled in Cutbirth. Evangel meets Friends in Thursday's winners bracket game.

Saint Mary's Audrey Spellman homered. Alexis McDaniel scored on a bunt. Grace Rose scored on a wild pitch. 

FRIENDS 6, OTTAWA 2  — Friends pitchers Kierstan Weitze (4-2) and starter Spracklen held Ottawa to two runs. Wertz and Dallimore each drove in two runs. Marshall drove in a run with three hits.

Ottawa's Morgan Bradford and Mary Reever drove in runs.

EVANGEL 10, TABOR 4 — Romines drove in two runs and eight players delivered RBIs in a 14-hit attack. Pitcher Maddy Meierer (15-1) earned the victory.

SAINT MARY 5, AVILA 2 — Sadie McWilliams drove in two runs. Pitcher Grace Rose earned the victory.

FRIENDS 5, OKLAHOMA WESLEYAN 2 —Wertz (15-5) struck out batters and drove in two runs. Becca Dunn drove in two runs.

OTTAWA 4, KANSAS WESLEYAN 1 — Ottawa pitcher Ashlynn Mercer struck out six batters. Cierra Faubion drove in two runs.
