St. John's Smith earns four firsts at Ellinwood

ELLINWOOD — St. John's Quade Smith won four gold medals winning the 800 meters (2:05.88) and 1,600 (4;54.89) while also competing on the first-place 1,600-meter relay (3:47.16) with Braxton Alpers, Jace Reyes and Ian Dunn; and the first-place 3,200-meter relay (11:19.65) with Alpers, Reyes and Ian Dunn.

Other first-place winners were Central Plains' Broc Klima, 300 hurdles (47.27); the Oilers' 400-meter relay (45.98) with Eli Hurley, Joel Schreiber, Callun Rogers and Klima; Stafford's Sam Lowther, high jump (5-8); Ellinwood's Dawson Sunderland, 200 (24.4); and Ellinwood's Cason Merritt, pole vault (11-0).

Runner-up medals were earned by Central Plains Oilers Klima, 110 hurdles (17.59); Eli Hurley, triple jump (37-6); and Landon Daniels, shot put (39-103/4); Ellinwood's duo of Gabriel Martinez, pole vault (10-6); and Ryan Pohlman, 1,600 (4:58.71).

St. John's Alpers was runner-up in the 800 (2:10.44).

GIRLS DIVISION — Central Plains Olier Lauren Oeser won the shot put (34-10) and javelin (120-11) at Friday's Ellinwood Track Invitational.

Oiler Boston Robison swept the 100-meter hurdles (17.97) and 300-meter hurdles (51.78) and placed runner-up in the pole vault (7-6).

St. John's Reagan Bonner was a double winner in the long jump (16-41/4) and triple jump (34-31/2). Bonner joined the Tigers' first-place 400-meter relay (52.18) with Heidi Fisher, Lydia Reed and Mia Meyer. The same foursome placed runner-up in the 1,600-meter relay (4:26.69).

St. John's Reed won the 800 (2:29.73). Stafford's Taylor Denio won the high jump (4-6).

Central Plains Oiler Marilyn Soeken was runner-up in the 200 (30.46).
