As of Wednesday, 45% of Kansans have received one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 39.6% have completed the COVID-19 vaccine series. In Barton County, 43.34% of the population 12 years of age and older have received one dose and 40.08% have completed the series.
The Barton County Health Department reported 16 active COVID-19 cases in Great Bend as of 7 p.m. Wednesday, along with one active case in Ellinwood and five in rural Barton County.
To date, there have been 2,559 positive cases in Barton County, resulting in 7,148 quarantine/isolation orders issued. As of Wednesday, 62 of those orders were active.

Here is the latest data on the COVID-19 pandemic, released Wednesday by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
Kansas has documented 322,264 cases to date, resulting in 11,295 hospitalizations, 5,196 deaths and 17 Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C) cases over the course of the pandemic. There were 1,155 new cases, 56 new hospitalizations and eight new deaths reported since Monday, July 12.
KDHE showed 17 new cases in Barton County since last Friday, 11 reported between Monday and Wednesday.

Barton County has sequenced 28 samples and detected 11 variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19. Three were the alpha variant and eight were the delta variant.
Over the course of the pandemic, 89 people have been hospitalized in Barton County (an increase of one since last week) due to COVID-19. At least 60 of those patients have been discharged. There have been 20 intensive care unit admissions and seven cases requiring mechanical ventilations.
There are 51 active clusters in Kansas but only nine locations have had five or more cases with symptom onset in the last 14 days. None of the nine cluster locations listed were in the Golden Belt.
