KDHE releases weekly COVID-19 report - August 17, 2022

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment reports there were 5,399 new COVID-19 cases and 12 new deaths between Wednesday, August 10, and Wednesday, August 17.

Most of the state, including the Golden Belt, continued to have a “high” weekly rate for new cases, meaning 100 or more cases per 100,000 people. Among area counties, only Rush County had a “substantial” rate, with 65.9 cases per 100,000, for the week starting August 6 and ending August 12. The most recent five days were not included as data is expected to be incomplete.

Ness County, Sheridan County and Kingman County had zero new cases, while Rawlins, Stanton and Morton counties each had one.

Here are the new case totals for Aug. 6-12 for area counties:

• Rice 24

• Rush 2

• Russell 19

• Stafford 12
