Six new COVID-19 deaths were reported in Barton County

Six new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported Friday in Barton County, bringing the total to seven for the week.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment notes that death counts and other data are preliminary and subject to change.

As the number of new COVID-19 cases decreases, KDHE announced that, as of April 1, its online data dashboard will be updated once a week, on Fridays. Previously, data was updated every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

As of 9 a.m. Friday, Kansas has had 770,275 COVID-19 cases, resulting in 20,081 hospitalizations and 8,397 deaths statewide. There were 193 new cases, 29 new hospitalizations and 103 new deaths reported since Wednesday, March 30.

Here are case totals for area counties as of 9 a.m. Friday, with any change since Wednesday:

• Barton 6,486 

• Ellsworth 2,014 (+1)

• Pawnee 2,118 (+1)

• Rice 2,609

• Rush 806

• Russell 1,878 (+2)

• Stafford 1,136

Here are the COVID-related death totals for area counties, as of 9 a.m. Friday, with any change since Wednesday:

• Barton 96 (+6) 

• Ellsworth 32 (+1)

• Pawnee 24 

• Rice 23 (+1) 

• Rush 18

• Russell 37 

• Stafford 26


Hospitalizations

The Great Bend Tribune also reports on COVID-19-related hospitalizations in Barton, Pawnee and Stafford counties. These did not change  Friday.

• As of 9 a.m. Friday, Barton County has reported 178 hospitalizations attributed to COVID-19 over the course of the pandemic, including 32 intensive care unit (ICU) admissions to date, and 115 discharged patients reported to KDHE. These numbers were unchanged from Wednesday, March 30.

• Pawnee County has reported 77 hospital admissions, 15 ICU admissions and 51 discharged patients to date. These numbers have not changed since March 11. 

• Stafford County has reported 36 hospital admissions, 15 ICU admissions and 23 discharged patients to date. These numbers have not changed since Jan. 5.
