The Great Bend USD 428 Board of Education will discuss plans for moving ahead with upcoming projects when it meets at 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at the District Education Center, 201 South Patton Road.

Last month, the board approved the purchase of property at 625 E. 10th St., owned by Central Power Systems & Services, for $1.55 million. The site will eventually house Maintenance, Transportation, Custodial and Food Services. Superintendent Khris Thexton said he anticipated hiring a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) to assist with the project. This will first require a public hearing, which will be held during Monday’s meeting.

The board will evaluate the appropriateness of CMAR delivery for upcoming projects and will also take public comments on the proposed plan to use a CMAR for the future remodel of the 625 E. 10th St. building.

After that, the administration recommends board approval to publish the notice to release a request for qualifications for Construction Manager at Risk.

Other items on the agenda include recognition of school board members, the annual report of the Kansas Seal of Biliteracy, second reading of policy changes, COVID-19 operation update, approval of 2022-23 fundraiser requests, amending board officer terms and setting meeting dates, and approval of quotes for commercial mowers.

There will be reports on curriculum adoptions, personnel, Education Foundation mini-grants, contributions and grants, and projects.

An executive session to discuss the performance of individual employees is also on the agenda.
