City of Great Bend announces promotion of Dustin Ferguson to Utilities Field Supervisor

The City of Great Bend on Monday announced the promotion of Dustin Ferguson to the position of Utilities Field Supervisor within the Public Utilities Department.

Previously serving in collections as a Service Person II employee, Ferguson will now oversee daily field operations across water production, water distribution, wastewater collections and the City’s stormwater system in this leadership role. The position is essential to ensuring that Great Bend continues to provide safe, reliable and high-quality utility services to residents, businesses and visitors. The Utilities Field Supervisor supports regulatory compliance, directs field crews, assists with emergency response and contributes to long-term infrastructure planning and improvements.

“He brings a thoughtful and steady approach to maintaining and improving the City’s infrastructure,” said Director of Public Utilities Darren Doonan. “His focus on dependable customer-first service, efficient operations and responsible long-term planning strengthens our ability to meet the community’s utility needs. We are proud of his accomplishments and excited for the leadership he will bring as he steps into this new role. His leadership will help ensure that Great Bend continues to benefit from reliable systems today while positioning the City for a stronger, more resilient future.”

Ferguson brings extensive hands-on experience, practical field knowledge and a strong commitment to crew development and safety. His leadership has supported system reliability, improved operational efficiency and contributed to the successful completion of major maintenance and emergency response projects across the utility systems.
