STAFFORD — Mermaid Dollars. A new form of currency? Mermaid dollars are a fun name for Sand Dollars. CBS Sunday Morning had an interesting segment on sand dollars and their value.

I remember an inspirational poem about sand dollars; google “The Legend of the Sand Dollar.”

I hope everyone enjoyed the 250th Celebration in Stafford last Saturday.

This weekend on Friday, come to Larabee Library from 5-7 p.m. and:

• listen to Jan Turner and Friends music,
• eat a free family meal of pulled pork with sides,
• get a coupon for free ice cream at the Trojan Pop Shop and
• enjoy our new backyard reading spot.

Summer Reading is over. We would like to thank the Stafford Recreation for sharing their kids with us and helping us have a very fun time at Larabee Library. We have had over 200 people visit Larabee Dinosaur Park. It will still be open until school starts. SCKLS featured the park on their videos to other libraries in their district.

If you are in Hutch you might want to eat at “Old Chicago” restaurant in the new hotel out by the hospital. I’ve heard good things about their food, although wait time might be a problem. We were familiar with the restaurant because of the one in Hays. They have a nice variety on their menu and it’s nice to have one closer to home.

Be sure to come join us on Friday night at 5. We might set up inside if we need the cool air.
