The Great Bend USD 428 Board of Education will take a fresh look at the facilities master plan and the failed bond election when it meets at 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at the District Education Center, 201 S. Patton Road. Terry Wiggers from SJCF Architecture will present information regarding the recent community survey results and will discuss options for a plan and process relating to the district master plan.

In September, voters said “no” to two bond proposals for facility improvements. Question One sought $41.75 million for district-wide improvements and Question Two sought an additional $3.12 million for a new gym at Great Bend Middle School.

A community survey can be found on the district website, www.GreatBendSchools.net, under the heading “Bond” in the menu. This survey asks why, in the public’s opinion, the bond issues failed to pass and which pieces of the plan people would support a bond issue, and at what cost.
