WICHITA — Rural Stafford County resident Allen E. Standish, 32, was indicted Wednesday, Nov. 18, on a federal charge of one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a user of controlled substances, U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister said.

The crime is alleged to have occurred Oct. 27 in Stafford County.

If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alan Metzger is prosecuting.

A federal judge in Wichita unsealed the complaint charging Standish on Nov. 5. The complaint noted that Standish became the subject of an investigation after he reported finding his father deceased on the morning of Oct. 13 at his residence in rural St. John. A search warrant for the Allen E. Stanish home was executed on Oct. 27 and netted approximately 89 firearms, including one modified into a machine gun, silencers, short-barreled rifles and a short-barreled shotgun. One silencer, having no markings, was found inside his 2009 Corvette parked in the driveway along with ammunition, and marijuana and paraphernalia.
