Youth Crew goes bowling, recruits friends to join the group

Ryli Ryff, left, sixth grader at Lincoln Elementary, and Kaleigh Reinert, seventh grader at Great Bend Middle School, enjoy a Youth Crew bowling event.

The recent bowling event for Youth Crew-Barton County was not only a fun outing, it also gave members a chance to recruit friends to join the group, said Tyler Morton, Juvenile Services prevention advocate.

“As part of our recruitment efforts, members were asked to invite a friend who had never participated in Youth Crew,” Morton said. “During our monthly meetings, we have been discussing the importance of members sharing information with their friends about the fun and educational opportunities that Youth Crew provides.

“This outing provided the platform and time to talk with their peers about our programs and why it is important for more young people to be involved.”

Morton noted that a few of the guests’ parents showed interest in Youth Crew. “We will know more about prospective new members after our March meetings,” he said.

Juvenile Services sponsored the event at Cardinal Lanes in Hoisington.

“A big thank you goes to Cardinal Lanes for their hospitality and Great Bend Rec for donating gift cards to distribute as prizes,” Morton commented. “As part of our action plan, we look forward to hosting more fun events throughout the year.”
