Great Bend Police continue to investigate after a local business reported several checks forged off of its account in October, resulting in significant loss.

According to a Great Bend Police Department release, at about 2:24 p.m. Thursday, a GBPD officer was contacted by the Chief Financial Officer at Heart of Kansas Family Health Care, 1905 19th St. The officer was made aware of fictitious checks that were forged using an account number belonging to the Heart of Kansas Family Health Care’s bank account.

The investigating officer determined the fictitious checks had been electronically deposited into different banks. The officer determined the crime occurred between Oct. 7 and Oct. 29. There were 29 different fraud incidents, totaling a loss of approximately $106,000 to Heart of Kansas Family Health Care.

GBPD Lt. Jason Settle indicated they have not identified any suspects at this time, and the investigation into the crimes is ongoing.
