A traffic stop utilizing Great Bend Police Department K-9 Menta resulted in three drug arrests Sunday afternoon.

According to the GBPD report, an officer initiated a traffic stop at approximately 12:15 p.m. on a vehicle in the 3900 block of 10th Street for an equipment violation.

K-9 Menta was utilized during the stop to conduct a free-air sniff, where she alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics.

During a search of the vehicle, quantities of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and paraphernalia were located inside. 

The driver, Danyan Battaglear, 22, had an outstanding felony warrant from Harvey County for narcotics distribution and was arrested.

Also arrested were Jason Battaglear, 26 and a 17-year-old juvenile.

Both Danyon Battaglear and Jason Battaglear were transported to Barton County Jail where they were booked on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, no drug tax stamp, contributing to a child’s misconduct, improper stop lamp and no proof of insurance.

Danyan Battaglear was released Sunday after posting a $50,000 surety bond and a $10,000 surety bond through Ace Bail Bonding. As of Wednesday afternoon, Jason Battaglear remains in custody in lieu of bond.

The juvenile was booked into the Barton County jail and later released for transport to Reno County juvenile detention in Hutchinson.
