Great Bend Police Chief Steven Haulmark released this information concerning an incident that occurred last Sunday.
On Nov. 9 at approximately 11:56 a.m., GBPD officers were dispatched to a residence in the 2500 block of McBride Parkway, in reference to a domestic battery and a stolen vehicle. They contacted the victim, who advised that she had been struck and choked by Jerome Maravilla, age 67, and that he had left the residence in her vehicle. The victim’s vehicle was located a short time later, and officers gained information that Maravilla was hiding inside a detached garage. He was taken into custody and booked into the Barton County Jail on charges of aggravated battery and theft, with bond set at $40,000.
The Great Bend Police Department was assisted on this call by Barton County Sheriff’s Office deputies and the Kansas Highway Patrol.
