Traffic stop results in meth arrest
Candace D. Johnson

Candace D. Johnson, 44, of Great Bend was arrested Tuesday afternoon during a traffic stop for distribution of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine charges.

At about 4 p.m. Tuesday Barton County Sheriff’s Office detectives stopped a white Ford Escape driven by Johnson in the 2200 block of 12th St. in the city of Great Bend. BCSO K-9 Maxx, who was at the scene, indicated the presence of controlled substances in the vehicle. Sheriff’s deputies then discovered methamphetamine in the vehicle, according to a BCSO Facebook post.

Johnson was placed under arrest and transported to the Barton County Jail without incident. She was booked on possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine. Johnson is being held in lieu of a $300,000 bond.

Johnson had previously been arrested in “Operation Snowplow” in 2018. She was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia. In November of 2018, she entered a plea of “no contest” to drug possession and the other charge was dismissed. She was sentenced to 17 months in prison and granted 12 months of intensive probation.
