GREAT BEND - John W. “JW” Jaco, Jr., 62, passed away on January 8, 2020, at his home in Great Bend. He was born on January 26, 1957, at Wichita, to John W. Jaco, Sr. & Dorothy Ruth (Miller) Jaco. 

Coming from Wichita in 1961, JW was a Great Bend resident. He was the owner and operator of John Jaco, Inc. He was a member of the Barton County Sheriff’s Office Reserves since 1985, currently serving as Special Deputy Sheriff and served on the board for Barton County Crimestoppers. In the 1990s he was on the Barton county SWAT team. He enjoyed team roping, his llamas and horses, bird hunting and was one tough cowboy. He was an avid weight lifter and gun enthusiast.  

Survivors include, an uncle, Gene Jaco and wife Phyllis of Plainville; three cousins, Michael Jaco of Springfield, CO, Jana Kuhn and husband Raymond of Overland Park and Jill Brin and husband Mark of Godley, TX; companion, Rene Tiede; and daughter of the heart, Shanna Tiede-Long.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Reverend Josh Leu and Pastor Don Paden. Inurnment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Barton County Sheriff’s Reserves Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
