LARNED — Ona Evelayn Cross (Baird) was born on Nov. 22, 1922, in Larned, Kan., to John Norris Baird and Clara (Spangler) Baird. She was raised in Pawnee County and attended various country schools and Larned High School, but move to Boulder, Colo., her senior year and graduated from Boulder high school in 1940. She then attended Wichita business school and worked as a senior secretary for Boeing aircraft during the war. In 1955, she married William A Cross. They lived in Lewis, Kan., where they farmed and ranched. Ona was a longtime member of DAR, Kansas Livestock Association, a member of the Board of Directors of the Iroquois Center for Human Development, and a member of the United Methodist Church of Lewis. 

Ona was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill; and her brother Ralph H. Baird. 

Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 to 5 p.m. at McKillips Memorial Chapel. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. at the Lewis Methodist Church, with interment at the Larned Cemetery.
