HAYS — Hoisington native Brandon Ball of Fort Hays State was named MIAA Wrestler of the Week after winning the Bob Smith Open. This is the second honor for Ball in his Tiger career.

The No. 4 ranked 141-pound Ball (8-0) defeated Saint Mary’s David Hunter 15-0;  pinned Fort Hays teammate Josh Lenker in 2:34, and pinned Newman’s Baylor Smith in 4:19 to advance to the title match. Ball downed Arkansas Little Rock’s Conner Ward 5-0 to earn his 12th individual tournament title.

Fort Hays State competes Friday against Central Oklahoma at Edmond, Okla. The Tigers compete at the Jet Invitational Sunday at Wichita.
