ST. JOHN  — The No. 1 ranked 1A St. John Tigers roared past Stafford 58-38 in Friday's non-league basketball game. All-league Tanner Halling scored 15 points and Marshall Woolf scored 14 points. The Tigers (1-0) led 17-9 after one quarter and 36-10 at halftime.

Stafford's Ethan Hildebrand scored 24 points to spark the Trojans.

ROZEL — Pawnee Heights coasted past Fowler 64-19 in Friday's non-league basketball game. Tiger Adam Hands scored 13 points, Fabian Flores 12 and Harrison VanMeter added 10. The Tigers (1-0) play Natoma at the Natoma Tournament Monday. The Tigers have captured the Natoma Tournament the past few years.

ROZEL — The Pawnee Heights girls coasted past Fowler 62-7 in Friday's non-league basketball game. Tigers Madison Polson and Jaden Carlson each scored 25 points.

"The girls went in expecting to win and set the tone for the season," said Pawnee Heights coach Hannah Rasmussen. "They work extremely well all together and had many steals. Fowler's girls showed great sportsmanship."

NESS CITY 51, MACKSVILLE 46

MACKSVILLE — Macksville's 20-point fourth quarter nearly rallied past defending 2A state champion Ness City in a 51-46 Central Prairie League basketball setback.

The Mustangs (0-1, 0-1 CPL) outscored the Eagles 20-10, but came up shy. Cleven Huggins scored 15 points and hauled down 10 rebounds. Harley Blaske scored nine points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Ryan Kuckelman had seven points and 10 rebounds.

Ness City's Taylor Cable scored 14 points.

LACROSSE — Ellinwood's Ashtin Klepper led three players in double figures with 19 points as the Eagles downed LaCrosse's girls 52-37 in Friday's Central Prairie League basketball game. Ellinwood's Mya Maxwell scored 13 points and Daphne Doll added 10 points.

The Eagles outscored the Leopards 13-2 in the first quarter and 17-6 in the third quarter.

Ellinwood freshmen Britton Dutton scored 15 points and Tyler Stuhlsatz added nine points.

The No. 8 state-ranked 1A Cougars (1-0) roared ahead 35-15 at halftime. Cristen Trapp scored 12 points and Cora Anderson added 11 points.

Otis-Bison's Ethan Schneider added 12 points. Wilson's Garrett Theilen scored 13 points.
