HILLSBORO – Hoisington’s softball team earned a split with Hillsboro with a hard-fought 10-6 victory before losing the nightcap 14-4.

Hillsboro’s dominating Dani Klein ripped eight extra-base hits with seven RBIs in eight plate appearances with five doubles, two triples and a home run.

HOISINGTON 10, HILLSBORO 6 (G1) – Hoisington surged ahead with a seven-run second inning and held off Hillsboro’s rally. Kadence Urban’s double scored Kortney Lang and Ava Henry. Kassidy Nixon, Keeley Wolf and Urban scored on passed balls. Shaylah Kempke scored on Lang’s walk. Jordyn Boxberger scored on a groundout.

Mollie Steiner’s third-inning single scored Boxberger. Lang stole home in the fifth. Boxberger scored on Addyson Ogle’s seventh inning groundout.

Hilllsboro’s Klein scored on an error, a passed ball, groundout and strikeout.  

HILLSBORO 14, HOISINGTON 4 (G2) – Hillsboro’s Klein drove home six runs with two doubles, a triple and home run. Klein doubled home two runs and tripled home a third run in a 10-run third inning. Reese Hefley tripled home Klein and singled home Klein in the same inning.

Steiner’s second-inning single scored Lang. Steiner scored on Aylward’s triple. Nixon scored on a third-inning error. Steiner scored on Aylward’s fourth-inning groundout.
