Great Bend’s Emilee Hall sinks a free-throw

LIBERAL — The Great Bend Middle School eighth-grade girls (3-1) split a basketball doubleheader, winning 44-3 over Liberal Seymour Rogers, but losing 20-17 to Liberal Eisenhower Saturday.

LIBERAL SEYMOUR — The GBMS 8th grade girls roared to a 30-0 going into halftime. The Lady Apaches were scoreless until the fourth quarter.

Emilee Hall and Sadie Spray each scored 12 points. Other scorers were Ava Gregg (8), Addy Nicholson (4) and Lauryn Davis (2).

LIBERAL EISENHOWER — Liberal Eisenhower squeezed out a hard-fought 20-17 decision. The Panthers led 11-10 at halftime. Eisenhower led 16-15 after three periods and held off the Panthers 4-2 in the final period.

“The girls played their hearts out defensively, holding Eisenhower’s top player to three points,” said Great Bend coach Kyle Jeffrey. “But we struggled to calm down offensively against the Warriors’ pressure.”

Hall missed valuable court time with foul trouble. Spray led the way with nine points.

GBMS B TEAM — The Great Bend Middle School B team downed Seymour Rogers 29-18, but lost 33-18 to Liberal Eisenhower.

The B-team scored 15 points in the second half against Seymour Rogers for a 29-18 victory. Maleigha Ribordy scored a season high 16 points and Kaleigh Sheets added six points.

Liberal Eisenhower’s full-court press forced turnovers and foul issues kept players on the bench. GBMS dropped to 2-2.
