It's a good bet that Goddard Eisenhower's Jason McCarty tidied up the dugout after the Tigers swept past Great Bend's baseball team 6-0 and 14-3 Friday night.

McCarty was a one-man wrecking crew with four innings of shutout relief in the opener. McCarty drilled a pair of three-run homers in the nightcap.

Eisenhower made the Panthers pay for granting them extra outs by scoring 12 unearned runs in the doubleheader.

The Tigers (13-7) and Panthers (7-12) will meet again at 2 p.m. in Tuesday's 5A baseball regional at Maize.

TIGERS 6, PANTHERS 0 (G1) — Eisenhower pitchers Owen Reynolds and McCarty (1-2) combined for a three-hit shutout to win game one.

The Panthers missed three scoring chances. They loaded the bases in the third inning. Tiger second baseman Owen Rush turned a Paco Hernandez groundball into a 4-6-3 double play.

The first two baserunners reached base in the third, fourth and seventh innings. Stefan Spray, Matt Neiman and Edwin Chavez were retired in the fourth. Gavin Haberman, Jade Poe and Hernandez were retired in the seventh.

Two Panther errors, a balk and two hit batters led to five unearned runs. Mason Turney scored on Rush's groundball after an error. Rush scored on a Chavez balk in the sixth inning. Cory Gleason ripped a two-run single and Owen Reynolds added an RBI single in a five-run seventh inning.

TIGERS 14, PANTHERS 3 (G2) — McCarty made the Panthers pay for a pair of errors with back-to-back three-run homers. Gleason added a three-run round-tripper after two walks and a missed fly ball led to a five-run fourth inning. The Tigers added three fifth-inning runs for a run-rule victory.

The Panthers scratched out three runs with single tallies in the first, third and fifth innings. Joseph Moeder's bases-loaded walk forced home Sage Koelsch in the first inning, but the Panthers left the bases loaded.

Chayse Gruber singled home Paco Hernandez after a leadoff third-inning triple. But Stefan Spray hit into a double-play and Joseph Moeder was retired. Koelsch and Hernandez started the fifth inning with back-to-back singles and Koelsch scored on a passed ball.
