Donald Joe “Don” Scott, 70, passed away Oct. 26, 2024, at University of Kansas Health Systems – ER, Great Bend, Kan. He was born on Nov. 21, 1953, in Scott City, Kan., to Everett and Irma (Waggoner) Scott. On April 23, 1999, he married Peggy Daubert in Great Bend, Kan.
A resident of Great Bend for over 25 years, Don was a 1972 graduate from Utica High School. He worked in maintenance at Great Bend Packing Co, previously working the oilfield and on the railroad. Don enjoyed fishing and tinkering on cars and was the life of the party - taking part in karaoke, dancing, and playing cards.
Survivors include son, Jeremie Scott of Great Bend; stepchildren, Mark Rehme and Tena Quintero and husband Eric, all of Marlo, Okla.; three grandchildren; five step grandchildren; one great grandchild; brother, Tommy Scott of Hoisington; sisters, Emma Linsner of Great Bend, Shirley Taylor of Oklahoma, and Ruby Brox of Amarillo, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his parents; sons, Jeffrey Scott and Jimmy Dimitt; grandson, Cooper Quintero; and brothers, Everett Jr., Leon, and Randy Scott.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date. Memorials have been designated to the Kansas Wetlands Education Center, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
