Joan Dale Pope 1935 - 2025

Joan Dale Pope, 90, passed away March 10, 2025, in Great Bend, Kan. She was born Feb. 22, 1935, in Endicott, N.Y., to William and Jessie (Harper) Robinson.

Joan married Richard F. Pope June 23, 1956, in Endicott, N.Y. He preceded her in death, Feb. 1, 2012. Joan and Richard moved to the area in 2007. She worked at IBM as a key punch operator, as a bank teller, and for the school district food service. She was a local political enthusiast and loved helping at the election offices. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Newark Valley before transferring membership to First Christian Church in Great Bend. She was an avid reader, loved to go bowling, play a good game of pinochle, and bingo. 

Survivors include daughters, Cathy Yetter of Great Bend, Lori Hammeke and her husband Colin of Great Bend, Vicki Spina and her husband Charles of Larned; grandchildren, Aaron Hammeke (Becky), Daniel Spina (Sally), Ryan Hammeke (Megan), Jessie Spina, Liz Yetter, Abby Hammeke; great grandchildren, Ethan Hammeke, Beth Hammeke, Emma Hammeke, Tyler Hammeke and Easton Hammeke; brother, David Robinson of Orlando, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard F. Pope; brother, William Robinson; and granddaughter, Lisa Hammeke.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., March 14, 2025, at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Leu presiding. Family will be greeting guests from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Hope Cemetery in Newark Valley, N.Y., at a later date. Memorials have been designated to First Christian Church or Gentiva Hospice, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
