Mary Ellen Turley, 73, passed away Jan. 17, 2025, at KU Med Center, Kansas City, Kan. She was born March 20, 1951, in Parsons, Kan., to William and Mary (Meiers) Raney. Mary married Darrell Turley on Sept. 11, 1993, in Great Bend, Kan. He survives.  

Mary, a long-time resident of Great Bend, proudly served as the administrative assistant to the Great Bend City Building Inspector for 37 years, retiring in 2014. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed playing Bunco with friends, and could often be found watching old movies, hours upon hours. Above all, Mary enjoyed time spent surrounded by family. 

Survivors include her husband, Darrell of the home; mother, Mary Raney of Buffalo, Mo.; one son, Janzen Sangals and wife Sierra of Osawatomie, Kan.; two stepdaughters, Darla Villalobos and husband Joe and Dana Hernandez and husband Jorge all of Great Bend; two sisters, Nona Lee Wood of Fargo, N.D. and Debra Sue Lindeman and husband Daniel of Fair Grove, Mo.; six grandchildren, Nicole Rodriguez, Monica Tovar, Devon Hernandez, Alex Hernandez, Ashlynn Sangals and Brooklynn Sangals; five great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in passing by her father, William Raney.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Chaplain Nick Miller presiding.  Interment will follow at Golden Belt Memorial Park, Great Bend. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 24, at Bryant Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Grandchildren’s Education Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS  67530.
