TOPEKA — Ottawa ended the Great Bend Braves Legion baseball season 6-2 at the AAA state tournament. The Braves (15-11) ended the season with a 1-6 record after being idle for 15 days.

Ottawa pitcher Preston Kueser held the Braves to two runs. Aiden Hekele scored on Eli Soupiset's fourth-inning double. Jaxon Wondra singled in Mohr in the fifth inning. 

Ottawa's Grady Sumrall, Gavin Seaton, Stetson Miller and Kueser drove in runs. The Braves committed five errors and walked four batters. 

PITTBURG 1, BRAVES 0 — The Pittsburg Patriots downed Great Bend 1-0 to hand the Legion Braves a state tournament loss for the second consecutive year.  Pittsburg beat Great Bend 7-6 en route to the A state championship in 2023.

Pittsburg pitchers Quinten Fears and Carson Nickelson combined for 16 strikeouts. 

Braves pitcher Slade Mohr threw six shutout innings. Pittsburg's Indica Holloway singled home Jayden Brown in the seventh inning after a hit-by-pitch, stolen base and sacrifice bunt.

Mohr and Trenton Kern singled for the Braves two hits. The Braves stranded two baserunners in the second, third and fourth innings. The Braves batted 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and struck out 16 times out of 21 outs in their first baseball game in 15 days.
