Sarah Hoehner Shirer retired from her secretarial career five years ago. Looking back, she recalls those years with fondness, noting that hers is a vanishing breed. 

“Everybody used to need secretaries, but now computers make it possible for everybody to do their own secretarial stuff very easily,” she said. There isn’t an ounce of sadness in the statement. She’s clearly someone who appreciates progress.
