LYONS — Great Bend native son Ty Cobb, former White House counsel and former attorney to the Office of the President of the United States, will be the keynote speakers at the annual meeting of the Lyons Chamber of Commerce. The meeting will start with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Celebration Centre - Jack Janssen Hall.

Cobb grew up in Great Bend and graduated from Harvard College and Georgetown University

Law Center. A former federal prosecutor, he is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and

is regularly profiled in Best Lawyers in America, Who’s Who in the World, International Who’s Who of

Business Crime Lawyers, and Super Lawyers.

In April of 2019, he was again recognized by Lawdragon Magazine as one of the “500 Leading Lawyers in America.” In 2018, the magazine proclaimed him a ”LawDragon Legend,” ushering him into a highly selective group. In 2017, Super Lawyers again honored him as one of the top 100 lawyers in Washington, D.C. Cobb was an early inductee in the Ethisphere Hall of Fame, which recognizes those who have helped to advance corporate ethics and compliance.

Because of his political, corporate governance and crisis management experience, public companies, special committees of boards of directors, audit committees, and senior executives in “bet-the-company” cases turn to Cobb as an advocate and advisor. In addition to the White House, he has represented numerous public officials of both major political parties in highly charged investigations.

Cobb’s wide-ranging enforcement, bribery, and corruption practice has taken him to more than 35 countries and 44 states. Because of the high profile, the potential consequences of many of his representations, and because of his service to the country, he has appeared on “Meet the Press,” “Face the Nation,” and other programs on CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, NPR and FOX, and has been quoted frequently by most of the large print media news outlets.

“Our annual meeting is a members-only event,” Schultz said. “However, that being said, we have an individual membership which is only $40 a year or we have business tiers as well. So if someone wanted to attend, they could either become an individual member or business member and could purchase tickets at the $35 price by Wednesday this week as that is when we are turning in our attendance numbers for food and such.”
