STAFFORD — It would be nice if this was the last few days of 100 degree heat. My first child was born Aug. 12, 1980. Those of you pregnant that summer know exactly what I’m talking about. It is recorded that this area had 46 100-degree or higher days that summer.
The good news is, next week is supposed to be much cooler after a much needed rain! If it is too hot at home, feel free to come join us at the library.
New books are coming in every week thanks to a grant from Golden Belt Community Foundation. We are working hard to find titles that keep our patrons engaged and that lead them to even more great books from our Adult Collection. What I am finding is there is an unbelievable amount of good reads out there in all genres.
We would like to thank the family of Audrey Hedrick for selecting Larabee Library to honor their mother with memorials. Audrey and her husband Kenneth raised their family in Stafford. Audrey served her church, family and community with grace. She was an avid reader and frequent visitor of the library and her smile and laugh were greatly missed when she moved to Hutch to be closer to family later in life.
Aug. 26 will be a busy afternoon at the library. Don’t Fall For It! is the workshop that Jennifer Gleason of K-State Extension will provide from 3-4. Come join us and find ways to improve your balance and surroundings to help prevent falls. At 5:30 we will have our Recently Read Book Group and the fun time of sharing books and authors we have enjoyed.
Sept. 8, at 11 a.m. at the Stafford Senior Center, Carr Auction will be selling 112 acres of Stafford County land given to the Library, to use as needed, by the Louan Talley Memorial Fund. We are grateful for this gift that will allow us to invest the proceeds to enhance the future of Larabee Library.
