“Dancing with the Cougars” returns this year with another dance workshop featuring Latin dance styles at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 12 in Studio 34, and all proceeds go to support Barton Dance Theatre’s trip to dance in New York City in January.

This one-time class will include the basics for popular dances such as salsa, merengue, mambo, and cha-cha.  Barton Dance Instructor Danika Bielek will teach the class with the students from Barton Dance Theatre.

“Latin dances are expressive, rhythmic, and so much fun,” she said. “They can be danced with or without a partner. It’s a type of dancing where the whole body is dancing and connecting to the music. Usually, people came out of Latin dance class smiling and feeling invigorated.”

To register, visit shows.bartonccc.edu or contact Barton Dance Instructor and Performing Arts Coordinator Danika Bielek at bielekd@bartonccc.edu or 620-792-9253. Admission is $15 per person or $20 if attendees bring a dancing partner.
