On Monday, Oct. 27, members of the Central Kansas Association for the Visually Impaired held their monthly meeting at the Great Bend Senior Center.

City Administrator Logan Burns was in attendance as the group celebrated the City of Great Bend’s Proclamation of White Cane Day on Oct. 15. More information about White Cane Day can be found at https://www.greatbendks.net/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=339&PREVIEW=true

Dr. Donald Beahm also joined the meeting, discussing the advancements in technology — most notably with artificial intelligence — that can assist those with visual impairments.

The association meets every fourth Monday of each month at 1 p.m. at the Great Bend Senior Center and encourages anyone interested from surrounding areas in central Kansas to join. For more details, contact Scharna Doll at scharnadoll@gmail.com or at 620-786-0731.
