Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! It’s time for summer reading, and the fun starts with our kick-off on Friday, May 30 from 5:30-7 p.m. Play exciting yard games like badminton, ladder ball, cornhole, and many more before meeting some alpacas from Heartland Farms. You will be able to learn about these amazing animals from the experts and even get close enough to pet them! We will also have some examples of the amazing things you can make with alpaca fleece and may even have a demonstration of how fleece is spun into yarn.

After you’re all alpaca’d out, head inside to cool off and register for our summer reading program. Color your world with reading for all ages and formats while tracking minutes for the chance to win some fabulous prizes! The more you read, the better your chances are of bagging some really awesome summer swag. Before you leave, make sure you create a mini masterpiece that will be displayed at our end of summer Gallery Gala.

I also want to remind everyone that every time you check out from the Great Bend Public Library this summer, you will earn a ticket to enter our weekly check-out contest! Winners will be drawn every Monday throughout the summer program in different age categories (Children ages 0-5 and 6-12, Teens grades 6-12, and Adults 18+).

To see what else we are up to at the library, stop by and grab our summer newsletter so you can keep up to date on all the artful fun happening at the library this June through August!
