The Golden Belt Community Concert Association will present piano maestro Jared Freiburg and the Vagabonds, who will perform a high-energy concert of rock and roll, blues, country and jazz from the ’50s and ’60s at 7 p.m. Friday, April 4, at the Great Bend Municipal Auditorium, Lakin and Stone. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.
Their concert will include memorable songs and stories made famous by musicians from the most explosive and influential genre of the 20th century. Freiburg began his career playing Jerry Lee Lewis in Broadway’s Grammy Award-winning show, “Million Dollar Quartet” aboard the Norwegian cruise line and later reprised that role in “Million Dollar Quartet Christmas.”
He formed Jared Freiburg and the Vagabonds in 2019. Together they take their audiences on a high-energy rock and roll thrill ride echoing the sounds of icons such as Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, and more. They bring electrifying piano mastery and smooth vocal harmonies to non-stop favorite songs of ‘50s and ‘60s rock and roll, jazz, blues and country music.
This GBCCA event is open to association members. No single concert tickets are available. Because the association encourages young people’s interest in music and the performing arts, full-time students will be admitted for a $5 donation at the door.
As part of the kickoff for the GBCCA 2025-2026 Membership Campaign, membership renewal envelopes will be ready for members to pick up as soon as the doors to this concert open at 6:15 p.m. The renewal envelopes will be placed alphabetically according to last name for pick-up around the perimeter of the east side of the auditorium until 6:55 p.m. and will be available again during intermission. Those who wish to renew right away can do so at the Membership Table (not at the envelope pick-up table). Those who renew early will be entered into a drawing for concert swag. The Membership Campaign begins April 5 and ends April 25 for both renewing members and those wishing to join as new members.
The Golden Belt Community Concert Association and the Great Bend Recreation Commission now provide eight handicap parking spaces in front of the northeast entrance of the auditorium for every concert. Blue cones, placed at the curb before each space, will designate handicap-only parking.
Transportation to the concerts will again be provided for members in the Hoisington area who do not feel comfortable driving at night. Sunflower Diversified Services’ Catch-a-Ride will pick up the members from the parking lot of Hoisington’s Friendship House, 410 E. Third St., at 5:55 p.m. on the night of each concert. Round-trip cost is $4. Members must sign up for the ride at Friendship House or call 620-653-2555.
