Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! Today, after Genealogy Corner at 11 a.m., join us at Dry Lake Brewing for our latest Trivia Night at 7 p.m. Be prepared to travel to the upside-down for Stranger Things Trivia. We will be quizzing participants on everything to do with this smash hit love letter to ’80s horror. Compete for free drinks and fabulous prizes!
Friday is Halloween, and a terrible tragedy has taken place at the Great Bend Public Library! Follow the clues and take notes to figure out which colorful character committed the crime, which weapon they used and where the deed was done. Can you solve the case, or will the guilty party escape? This will be an all-day event, so come solve the crime any time during library hours.
Saturday, the spooky fun continues with a visit from a real paranormal investigator. Amanda from the Wolf Hotel will be here to tell us about ghost hunting and her experiences in the field, both locally and elsewhere (for fans of “Ghost Hunters” and “Ghost Files”).
Monday, Nov. 3, we have our Adult Manga and Anime Club Interest Meeting at 7 p.m. This club will be for adults (18+) to meet and discuss anime and manga. This meeting is to check for interest as well as establish what the club will cover. We welcome new fans starting out on their anime and manga journey, as well as old pros. A variety of genres will be covered. If you can’t make it to the meeting but want to participate, please let the library know so we know there is an interest.
Next week on Nov. 4, it’s another busy Tuesday, starting off with Early Literacy Story Time at 10:30 a.m. and Tech Tuesday at 11 a.m. Then, that afternoon we have Teen Café at 4 p.m. Join us in the Teen Spot each month for a cup of joe and an activity. This time, pair some bite-sized breakfast with your coffee at our Mini Pancake Bar! Then that evening at 5:30, our Writing Club for tweens, teens and adults is hosting the first Novelvember Support Group Check-In. Pop in every week in November for a short session to share your progress with librarians and other writers participating in Novelvember. Stuck? Check out the prompt jar! You are also encouraged to hang out and write at the library before each session.
Last but not least, next Thursday, after Genealogy Corner at 11 a.m., join us at the library at 6 p.m. for another Lisa’s Delicious Dishes. Learn to make mouth-watering Thanksgiving desserts that look and taste great but are a breeze to whip up.
