Holiday portrait photo op set up at GBPL
Book Nook.jpg

Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. We will be closed today, November 25, for the holiday, but we will be open Saturday, November 26 from 10 a.m. to 5  p.m.

Saturday is also the first day we will have our Family Portrait Photo Op available to our patrons. Swing by the library in your picture-taking finest and snag a photo for this year’s holiday card or maybe just a nice photo to send Grandma. The photo backdrop will stay up until Dec. 22. When available, staff will be happy to assist with taking your family photo.

Next week we will start off on Monday with CreativiTeens. Teens grades 6-12 can come to the Teen Spot to make a hot chocolate bomb to enjoy at home or to give as a lovely gift. At the end of next week, join us for this month’s Casual Game Friday. It’s dance party time! Get your groove on and see if you can keep up the rhythm to a variety of songs, from chart-topping hits to classic dance party tracks in Just Dance 3 at 3:30 p.m.!

On Tuesday, we have our usual Early Literacy Story Time at 10:30 a.m., as well as our last NaNoWriMo Support Group Check-In Sessions at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Join us for an evening of film discussion and popcorn during our Silver Screen Society meeting on December 1 at 7 p.m. This month’s film is a recent dark comedy take on the classic family holiday movie. All Nell, Simon and their son Art want is a nice family gathering with great food and good company before the end of the world. The table is set, the guests have arrived, and the apocalypse is almost here.

Then on Friday, we have our Adults’ Night Out Movie. This month’s film is based on the timeless novel, "Little Women" by Louisa May Alcott. The story follows four sisters and their mother on their journey of love and self-acceptance. If you would like more information about either of these or future movies, please visit our website at greatbendpl.info.

Last but not least, don’t forget to create a gingerbread house using recycled materials and enter it into our Cardboard Gingerbread House Contest to see if you will be crowned the Gingerbread House Master! The submission period runs from December 6-16.
