Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library, and an early Happy Valentine’s Day! If you need a low-cost date idea for the book lover in your life, bring them to the library. While you’re here, you can play a game of Chocolate Tic Tac Toe for two, go on our Valentine’s scavenger hunt, and browse our themed book displays. If you’d prefer a stay-at-home literary date, check out our selection of titles available through Libby and hoopla via your smart device.

If you’re feeling crafty this evening, come to the library to turn hoops and cord into lovely macramé moon decorations at this month’s Adult Craft, starting at 6 p.m. Supplies are limited; first come, first served. The east entrance will be accessible until 6:15 p.m.

Have questions about a website or computer program? Bring them to our tech experts next week during our February computer classes. Join us at the Senior Center at 10 a.m. on Monday, or bring your lunch and learn during our Brown Bag session at noon on Wednesday in the library’s Lower Level Meeting Room. If you can’t make it to either of these dedicated computer classes, or you need one-on-one tech help, you can always stop by the Reference Desk for our weekly Tech Tuesday program at 11 a.m.

Along with our regular Early Literacy Story Time at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, we have February’s Open Book Club meeting at 7 p.m. There are still copies of Percival Everett’s “James,” available for checkout at the Front Desk if you’d like to catch up over the weekend in time for the meeting. This multi award-winning reimagining of “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” shares the classic story from Jim’s point of view. “Brimming with nuanced humor and lacerating observations . . . this brilliant and tender novel radically illuminates Jim’s agency, intelligence, and compassion as never before.”

Next Wednesday, February 18, is the deadline to sign up for Cupcake Wars on Feb. 24. Teens grades 6-12 can compete in a series of challenges to see who is the master of frosting! Visit greatbendpl.info/teens to get registered.

We take ancestry research questions every week during Genealogy Thursdays at 11 a.m. Whether you are getting started on genealogy or are stuck on a current project, bring your questions to the Reference Desk for assistance.

New and seasoned Japanese visual culture fans are invited to join our Teen Manga & Anime Club for grades 6-12. Each month we’ll try out a new series by reading the first volume of the manga before meeting to discuss it and watch the first episode of the corresponding anime. Stick around afterward for a related activity, which could be anything from a craft to a competition. Use the code @gbmanga in the Remind app or visit remind.com/join/gbmanga to receive updates on meetings and other club-related events.

For February’s club meeting on Thursday, Feb. 19, from 5:30-7:45 p.m., we’ll be covering “My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!” by Satoru Yamaguchi. “A high school girl is stunned to find herself reincarnated as the conniving villainess from her favorite dating sim game, Fortune Lover. Now, as Catarina Claes, the impossibly rich and spoiled daughter of a duke, her new life seems to perfectly sync up with the world of the game. This means big trouble! No matter how the game turned out, there were only two fates for Catarina: exile or death (Amazon)!” Afterwards, we’ll play I Love You, Colonel Sanders! Copies of March’s title, “Yowamushi Pedal,” by Wataru Watanabe, will be available for pickup.
