The Great Bend Optimist Club recognized 15 members of the GBHS Class of 25 at their annual Youth Appreciation Luncheon on May 5. The students were selected by the school’s counselors and staff for their involvement in school and community activities as well as for excellence in the classroom. Optimist Club Project Chairman Jim Mayberry said, “These are the qualities the leaders of tomorrow will need. These students have already demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities.” Each student enjoyed lunch and received a framed certificate, a gift card, and a copy of the Optimist Creed. Each student shared their plans for next school year as well as a favorite High School memory.
Graduating Seniors who were recognized included: Thomas Armatys, Marisa Boone, Adalyn Erwin, Darcy Feist, Reese King, Josephine Mazouch, Cailyn Murphy, Diego Pasos, Jillian Reimer, Clarise Snapp, Eliana Teri, Emily Wedel, Kate Welcher, Ailey Williams and Carson Umphres.
The Great Bend Optimist Club meets each Monday at noon at the Walnut Bowl. All club projects support and/or promote the youth of the community.
