Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! We have an exciting week for you, so let’s just jump right in! In addition to our regular Genealogy Thursday today at 11 a.m., Dry Lake Brewing is hosting our Gilmore girls Trivia this evening at 7 p.m. Grab your favorite fall beverage and test your knowledge of everything Gilmore for the chance to win fabulous prizes and free beer!

Friday, September 26, we have our Tabletop Teens D&D group meeting. While the table for players is full, you can still witness all the out of this world craziness unfold firsthand. Watch as Six spacefaring adventurers enter the Nexus, an extradimensional warzone where fantasy and sci-fi collide! Our team will have to work together to keep the Nexus from spiralling into chaos and being overrun by ... space jellyfish? Any teens are welcome to come watch as part of the audience.

Saturday is our plant swap. From 10 a.m. to noon, bring fall bulbs and perennials in good condition to swap with attendees. Even if you can’t bring your own plants, feel free to stop by and see if we have extras. Can’t make it to the event? Drop off your bulbs any time during library hours before Saturday, and we will add them to the swap.

Monday is our first kids’ Crafternoon of the fall. This time, we will be making paper plate woven baskets. Each month, kids ages 6-12 can join us from 4-5 p.m. for a fun-filled afternoon of learning a new artistic skill.

Tuesday is another full day, starting off with Baby Bounce Story Time at 9:30 a.m. and Early Literacy Story Time at 10:30 a.m., followed by Tech Tuesday at 11 a.m. and Genealogy Corner at 5 p.m. Our last event of the day will be a Digital Literacy Class at 6 p.m. This month’s Genealogy Corner will focus on teaching attendees how to use the national archives to do family searches. Barton Community College’s class will be focusing on making the most of your Android phone. If you have anything other than an Apple or a flip phone, chances are you have an Android. So if that’s you, I would definitely check out this class. Phones these days are so expensive and can do more than a lot of us realize, so join us and learn how to make the most out of your investment.

Wednesday, Oct. 1, will be our first Tweentober event. Too old for story time but not quite a teen yet? Get a chance to hang out in the Teen Spot this October. Each Wednesday, we will have a different teen program for tweens in grades 3-5 to try out. This time we are going to play some video games.

Last but not least, next Thursday, Oct. 2, after Genealogy Corner at 11 a.m., we have Delicious Dishes with Lisa at 6 p.m. Come learn some quick and easy meals for the nights when you don’t have time to cook.
