Shyria Quintana

Student Library Assistant Madison Dombroski will focus on different Ellinwood High School seniors throughout the year to spotlight, and this will be featured in our Check It Out column. Today’s Senior Spotlight is Shyria Quintana.

Shyria Quintana is a senior at EHS. Her  family is father Jose, mother Melinda, sisters Eva and Checotah. Shyria’s favorite book is “Heroine,” by Mindy McGinnis. This book is really interesting. It’s about Mickey Catalan, a talented high school softball player who becomes addicted to opiod painkillers after a car accident.

Her favorite quote is, “Who am I to judge another when I myself walk imperfectly?”

Shyria has been involved in volleyball for three years, softball four years, and wrestling for one year, as well as Zero Reasons Why for two years. Her favorite class is ceramics. She really enjoys making all different shapes and sizes of pottery, especially picking good glaze combinations. Her advice to younger students is to be cringe, be funny, be cool, be yourself, and don’t let anyone ruin your fun. Do your thing, ignore the world and remember life’s too short to be boring. We wish Shyria a great year in her senior chapter!
