Sterling College Musical Theatre announces the cast for its upcoming production of Urinetown: The Musical. With a title as unfortunate as its fictional dystopia, this satirical, Tony Award-winning musical is a laugh-out-loud yet thought-provoking exploration of greed, corruption, and the consequences of a world where even a bathroom break comes at a cost. Featuring a wildly talented cast, this production promises to deliver an unforgettable experience filled with humor, heart, and a touch of absurdity.
Leading the rebellion is Caleb Brownlee, Sterling, as the earnest and defiant Bobby Strong, with Morgan Pellegrino, Las Vegas, Nev., as the bright-eyed and optimistic Hope Cladwell. Noah Svaty, Sterling, brings his deadpan charm as Officer Lockstock, the show’s ever-present narrator, while Philip Starnes, Wellington, embodies the ruthless and money-hungry Caldwell B. Cladwell. Mary Little, Hutchinson, takes on the role of the tough-as-nails Penelope Pennywise, and Kimberlie Skirvin, Emporia, plays the mischievously inquisitive Little Sally.
Adding to the colorful ensemble, Kurt Keegan (Burlington) portrays the scheming Mr. McQueen, with Taggart Reiss (Hutchinson) as the ill-fated but wise Joseph “Old Man” Strong. Aubrey Anderson (Sterling) steps into the role of the feisty Little Becky, while Brennan Blake (Cambridge, Minn.) plays the unscrupulous Senator Fipp. Keeping the law in check (or trying to) are Copper Collins (Pretty Prairie) as the loyal yet dimwitted Officer Barrel and Kassia Lopez (Lyons) as the resilient Josephine “Ma” Strong.
Rounding out the cast, Macy Brownlee (Sterling) appears as Tiny Tom, Kyle Arnett (Colorado Springs, Colo.) as Robby the Stockfish, Harleigh Baker (Burlington) as Soupy Sue, Elles Herndon (Pratt) as Mrs. Millennium, and Makenzy Carter (Wichita) as Billy Boy Bill. Together, this cast brings life, laughter, and just the right amount of rebellion to this delightfully twisted musical.
Directed by Marisa Callan, who also serves as Music Director, Urinetown: The Musical will take the stage in Culbertson Auditorium on the Sterling College campus.
