Step into a world of imagination, color, and expression at the Sterling College Student Art Show, where the next generation of artists showcases their talent. Hosted by the Sterling College Art & Design Department, this exhibition is now open and runs through Thursday, March 6, offering a glimpse into the creative minds of students and faculty.

This diverse collection highlights the artistic growth of select Sterling College art and design students, showcasing 14 unique pieces selected from student submissions by the Art and Design faculty. While there is no set theme, all displayed works were created as part of Art & Design courses, offering insight into the depth of talent within the program. Additionally, faculty members Sean Engler and Katie Petersen have contributed their own works to the exhibition.

The exhibit features a wide range of media, including graphic design, oil painting, watercolor, drawing, mixed media, and ceramics. Each piece provides a glimpse into the personal style and creative exploration of the students.

“The self-portraits and abstracted works are particularly striking,” shared faculty member Petersen. “It’s hard to pick favorites, but these pieces stand out for their depth and unique artistic approach.”

Sterling senior Macy Brownlee has three works in the show: Abstraction from Life, Abstraction Through Multiples and Self-Portrait. Fellow Sterling student junior Kalie Briar also has two: Internal Vs External Self-Portrait and Landscape with Ink.

Senior Brookley Kuhn from Victoria, has four works in the show including graphic design, 3D design, printmaking and painting. Athletic Training graduate student Eric Beyale from San Felipe Pueblo, N.M. will have two works in the show from Drawing 1 class.

Faculty member Sean Engler has his graphic design entitled Growing Gatherer along with Petersen’s two paintings: Egg on Your Face (Oil on Canvas), In Search of Perfection (Watercolor).

There is no admission charge for the exhibition which is at the Gallery in the Art/Media Center, 306 West Washington, Sterling and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
