Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library and Happy Galentine’s Day!
What better way to celebrate Galentine’s Day than with everybody’s favorite ladies, the Golden Girls. We will be hosting Golden Girls Trivia tonight at Dry Lake Brewery. Pre-registration is currently open on our website.
You can also come by the brewery at 6:30 p.m. today to register in person. We will be playing on Kahoot, a trivia-hosting platform that allows us to create trivia that participants can play on their phones. The great thing about Kahoot is that it keeps track of all the scores for us and keeps things moving. Teams are now also judged on the accuracy of their answers as well as how quickly they are submitted. If you know the correct answer right away, you can get a leg up on the competition! Spots are limited to 25 teams, so make sure to register now to guarantee your spot.
Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, which means you still have one more day to snag a blind date with a book. Grab a mystery title to see if it’s a match made in heaven. Even if you do have a sweetheart this February, why not grab a book for each of you and have your own mini book club date? It will give you plenty to talk about, and you might find out something unexpected about each other! After all, the couple that reads together, stays together.
Story times are back on Tuesday, with Baby Bounce from 9:30 to 10 a.m., followed by Early Literacy Story Time from 10:30 to 11 a.m. If you need help with your smart device, stop by the Information desk between 11 a.m. and noon to get your questions answered during Tech Tuesday. Later that evening, join us for Open Book Club at 7 p.m. We will be discussing this month’s book, “The Ministry of Time” by Kaliane Bradley. “To establish whether time travel is feasible – for the body, but also for the fabric of space-time, a ‘bridge’ who lives with, assists and monitors the expat known as ‘1847’ or Commander Graham Gore, falls fervently in love, with consequences she never could’ve imagined – ones that could change the future.” If this sounds interesting, grab a copy at the front desk or check out Libby for an ebook or eaudiobook version.
We are taking a break from Tween Scene next Wednesday, but it will pick back up the following week.
Next Thursday, February 20, we have our regular Genealogy Thursday and, of course, the fabulous Luna, as well as the Teen Manga and Anime Club. This month, in celebration of Valentine’s Day and White Day (a follow-up holiday to February 14 in Japan), we will be making chocolates and covering the romantic supernatural anime “Kakuriyo: Bed and Breakfast for Spirits.”
