One injured in Thursday morning crash
A 69-year-old Great Bend man was transported to the hospital Thursday morning with possible injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash in north Great Bend Thursday morning.
The Barton County Sheriff’s Office reported that at approximately 7:50 a.m., BCSO responded to a two-vehicle injury crash in the 300 block of N. Washington Ave. According to the report, the 2018 Ford Explorer driven by Marsha Renee George, 41, southbound on Washington was turning into a driveway in front of the approaching northbound 2017 Nissan Quest driven by Mendoza Homero Cardenas, 69. TDhe front of the Nissan struck the passenger side of the Explorer. Cardenas was transported to the hospital for possible injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
One injured in Thursday Doonan’s corner crash
A 29-year-old woman was transported to the hospital with injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon.
The Barton County Sheriff’s Office reported that at approximately 3:45 p.m., BCSO responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 56 and K-156 east of Great Bend. According to the report, the 2004 Ford Ranger driven east bound by Betty Miller, 81, Ellinwood, began to turn north onto K-156. failing to yield to oncoming traffic. A 2018 Buick Encore driven by Alejandra Velez, 29, struck the rear of the Miller vehicle. Velez was transported to the hospital for possible injuries.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
