A motorist who swerved to miss an animal was transported to Rice Community Hospital in Lyons on Monday morning following a one-vehicle crash in Rice County. Kansas Highway Patrol reports Jennifer L. Butts, 47, from Lyons was driving a 2006 Hyundai Tucson that was removed by Lyons Wrecker Service.

According to the report, she was driving north on 26th Road, about 0.2 miles south of Ave. O, at 8:25 a.m. when she thought she saw an animal and swerved to miss it and hit something that deflated her driver’s side front tire. She lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll on its side. Responders believe she had minor injuries. She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
