Two Great Bend residents were injured Thursday in a traffic crash involving three vehicles, at 6:42 p.m. in Ford County.

Kansas Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred approximately 1.5 miles east of the U.S. 50/U.S. 283 junction.

Two vehicles were disabled in the roadway when an eastbound 2021 Ford Explorer driven by Alethea Peschka, 62, Great Bend, came upon them and failed to stop. The Explorer struck a 2016 Toyota Camry, pushing it into a 2019 semi.

Peschka and her passenger, 64-year-old Joseph Peschka, were believed to be seriously injured and were transported to St. Catherine Hospital. The other drivers had no apparent injuries. They were Peyton D. Rincon, 24, of Dodge City, in the Toyota, and Jerry Smith, 66, of Clovis, N.M., in the Peterbilt truck. All occupants were wearing seat belts.
