ELLSWORTH COUNTY — A Dodge City woman was killed in a Saturday morning two-vehicle crash in Ellsworth County, the Kansas Highway Patrol reported.

According to the KHP crash log, the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Debra E. Kendig, 64, Dodge City, was westbound on K-156 at mile marker 158, six miles west of Ellsworth, when it swerved into the eastbound lane into the path of a 2023 Kenworth semi driven by David D. Stovall, 36, of Belleville Ill., at approximately 7:09 a.m. on Dec. 27. The Kendig vehicle struck the rear axles of the semi, causing it to spin. The semi came to rest across both lanes of the highway.

Kendig was transported to Wesley Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced dead at the hospital on Sunday afternoon. Stovall received no apparent injuries from the crash. Both drivers were wearing safety restraints at the time of the collision, the KHP reported.
