Police conduct drug raid south of Great Bend

Barton County Sheriff’s Office deputies executed a search warrant at 161 SW 10 Ave., just south of the city of Great Bend, around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5. Sheriff Brian Bellendir reports deputies had obtained information that drugs were present in the residence.

Upon entry, deputies contacted Rick E. Novotny, age 67, who lives at that location. He was detained and a search was conducted. Further investigation revealed suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia as well as firearms. Novotny was arrested and booked on charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and criminal possession of firearms. He was transported to the Barton County jail without incident. Novotny has since posted a $50,000 bond and was released.
