Great Bend Fire/EMS

Emergency Medical Service had eight ambulance runs on Wednesday. They were also on standby at the Great Bend Farm & Ranch Expo/Trade Show.


Great Bend Police

A non-injury crash was reported at 10:25 a.m. Wednesday at 12th and Main.

The School Resource Officer handled a battery reported at 2:44 p.m. at Riley Elementary School.

An injury crash was reported at 2:54 p.m. at 17th and Van Buren. Kansas Highway Patrol responded because a city vehicle was involved. The KHP online crashlogs to do indicate an injury crash in Barton County, so it would appear no one was transported.

Shoplifting was reported at Dollar General, 5318 10th St. A suspect was served a notice to appear in municipal court.

Non-injury crashes were reported at 5:09 p.m. at Casey’s General Store, 2716 10th St., and at 5:28 p.m. at Broadway and McKinley.

Alcoholic Beverage Control requested assistance at 6:14 p.m. in reference to a minor allegedly purchasing alcohol at Hejny Liquor, 821 Main.

Police checked a report of gunshots fired around 3 a.m. Thursday, heard in the 5300 block of 10th Street. Nothing was found.


Barton County Sheriff

The K-9 unit was dispatched to Central Plains High School, 700 W. Albro St., Claflin, at 10:06 a.m. Wednesday.

A theft was reported at 160 NE 80 Ave., Ellinwood.

An injury crash was reported at 2:54 p.m. at 17th and Van Buren, Great Bend.

A fire was reported at 3:48 p.m. at NW 210 Road and NW 120 Ave., Galatia.

A theft was reported at 473 SE 60 Ave., Great Bend.

A non-injury crash was reported at 5:28 p.m. at Broadway and McKinley, Great Bend.
