Sterling teenager dies in highway crash

An 18-year-old man from Sterling died Thursday after the car he was driving went left-of-center on K-156 near Ellsworth and collided with an oncoming truck pulling a cattle trailer.

Kansas Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred 3.4 miles northeast of Ellsworth around 7 p.m. on May 15.

The car was a 2011 Chrysler 200 driven by Nathaniel B. Dodd. He was not wearing a seat belt.

The truck was a 2021 Peterbilt driven by Noel J. Schilling, 58, of Morrill, Kansas. He was wearing a seat belt and sustained what appeared to be minor injuries.
