Ambrose A. Schneweis, 97, passed away November 17, 2022, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, KS. He was born July 28, 1925, in Odin, KS, to August A. Schneweis and Martha (Penka) Schneweis.

On May 6, 1946, Ambrose married Alice Boor, at the Holy Family Church in Odin, KS. They shared over 73 years of marriage, prior to her death on July 9, 2019. Following their marriage, they began farming in the LaCrosse, KS, area and stayed for six years. They moved to the Pretty Prairie, KS, area, where the ground that they farmed was purchased to become part of what is now known as Cheney Lake. The next move was to Holyrood, KS, and then in 1966, the final move was to Hutchinson, KS. Ambrose went to work as a machinist at Eaton Corporation, formerly Cessna Fluid Power Division, retiring in 1988 with 22 years of service. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Hutchinson, since 1966.

He enjoyed gardening and playing cards.  Ambrose’s greatest joy was spending time with his family.  

Ambrose is survived by: his daughters, Elaine (Keith) Myers of Hutchinson, Linda Schneweis of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Lori (Tracy) Clem of Wichita, KS; three grandchildren; one step-grandson; two great-grandchildren; and brother, Arthur Schneweis.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife; infant son, Ambrose Schneweis, Jr.; and four sisters.

Parish Rosary will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2022, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th Avenue, Hutchinson. Both services will be officiated by Father Matt Glazier.  Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the LaCrosse City Cemetery, LaCrosse, KS, with Father Stephen Dabanka officiating.  Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2022, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Teresa Catholic Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
